Whence Christianity Observed?
Christianity Observed is an attempt to make a certain kind of sense of the various varieties and offshoots of the splintered and splintering Christian faith. Is this God’s will for the churches? In what sense can we consider ourselves to be part of one another, if we don’t bear the slightest resemblence? Or do we?
There are two senses of Christianity “Observed” here; it is purposefully ambiguous. In one sense, we can consider Christianity to be observed in the sense that we can watch, catagorize, and critique its various manifestations.
In another sense, we can say that we do conceptual justice to the various practices of “the Christianities” as such. We can describe how each of us integrates Faith into our lives in the most personal ways. Such sharing invests the reader in possibilities, and possibilities can be peaceful.
